Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic and public speechwriter. She created Feminist Frequency, a site which features video and posts analyzing the portrayals of females in pop culture. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning Canadian-American feminist media critic and blogger. Feminist Frequency is a not-for profit site for education that investigates the representation of women in pop stories of culture - was created and directed by Sarkeesian. Destroying stereotypes about women are her main focus. In addition, Sarkeesian highlights issues related to specific harassment of women on the internet as well as other communities that are left out. Sarkeesian, who has the degree of Master's in the field of Social and Political Thinking at York University, is a popular public speaker. She has delivered speeches at the TEDxWomen festival as well as United Nations Broadband Working Group for Gender. Feminist Frequency was launched in 2009 by Sarkeesian, university student who has been fascinated by issues related to gender and feminism since a long time. The determined lady had planned to launch a web series on gender representation in video games and was the subject of an online harassment campaign. She was not deterred by the harassment, the fact is that it only bolstered her determination to be a media critic and feminist. Many awards have been presented to her in recognition of all the contributions that she made. Anita Sarkeesian won awards for her work as a critic of media and founded Feminist Frequency. Feminist Frequency is a non-profit organization that explores the portrayals of women in contemporary pop culture.
